As of March 2015, you now need to apply to the registry office for a licence to be married at least 28 days prior to your planned wedding ceremony. You also need to have been resident in that district for at least 7 days prior to the application.

If you are planning on your ceremony taking place on a Saturday, please book a registrar as soon as possible. They can be very busy and it will also depend on how many are on duty.
